We call the Interfaith Climate Group’s “Building Community in a Changing Climate” the spiritual foundation of the community-wide climate conversation-to-action program. Our monthly devotionals make mention of God and the promise of peace from as many different religious and wisdom traditions as we can. When we go through growth spurts as we’ve seen in the past few months, it always reminds me of this quote from the Baha’i Writings:
By the righteousness of God! Whoso openeth his lips in this Day and maketh mention of the name of his Lord, the hosts of Divine inspiration shall descend upon him from the heaven of My name, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. On him shall also descend the Concourse on high, each bearing aloft a chalice of pure light. Thus hath it been foreordained in the realm of God’s Revelation, by the behest of Him Who is the All-Glorious, the Most Powerful.
We want to bring those chalices of pure light into the intergenerational “Climate Collaboratory! The Musical.” In our children’s story, the Sages of the Ages bring Words of Wisdom into the Gardens of Global Unity, where all things are possible. As we grow Seed Ideas like the interfaith devotionals, Let’s Talk Climate, and the many projects popping up (as I see it, anyway) for the climate conversation-to-action program.
Here’s what that feels like to me.
