Hello, I’m Sue Blythe, creator of the Climate Collaboratory. One thing I’ve learned after seven decades on this beautiful planet is to see the end in the beginning. So, in a collaborative storytelling adventure I’ve developed through the years, I hold a vision for peace on and with the Earth. These words of the Earth Charter, a document launched 25 years ago, say it all:
Recognize that peace is the wholeness created by right relationships with oneself, other persons, other cultures, other life, Earth, and the larger whole of which all are a part.
In my storytelling and in my life, I hold the vision of our human family winning the Global Goals by 2030 so we can celebrate the Earth’s temperature coming back down in 2050. The closing words of the Earth Charter are a call to action:
Let ours be a time remembered for the awakening of a new reverence for life, the firm resolve to achieve sustainability, the quickening of the struggle for justice and peace, and the joyful celebration of life.
June 13 begins the 100-Day Countdown to the International Day of Peace on September 21. Today, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, the Secretary-General announced this year’s theme. I don’t see it yet, but I’ll post it when I do.
During the 100-Day Countdown this year, I intend to post 100 ways to help create peace on and with the Earth. From September 11 to the International Day of Peace on September 21, our storybook characters and real people will explore the Gardens of Global Unity, where all things are possible.
Here we grow, on the Road to 2030, 2050, and Beyond!
