Let’s see if we can make a list of 100 ways that people are helping to create peace on and with the Earth. We’ll celebrate on September 21, the International Day of Peace.

Each year on June 13, the United Nations Secretary-General announces the 100-Day Countdown to the International Day of Peace on September 21.
I remember back in 2019, the theme for the International Day of Peace was “Climate Action for Peace.” Secretary-General Guterres said,
This is the battle of our lives, and a race against time. We can win — and we must. Solutions are in our hands: tax pollution, not people; stop subsidizing fossil fuels; stop building new coal plants by 2020; focus on a green economy, not a grey economy. I count on your continued support as we strive to build a world where we can live every day in harmony with the environment and with each other.
100-Day Countdown to the International Day of Peace 2019
This year, in 2026, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said,
In a world rocked by conflict, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless. But all around us are everyday architects of peace – from volunteers to campaigners and civil society leaders – showing us how to take action to reshape our communities for the better.
Over the next 100 days, as we count down to the International Day of Peace, let us honour these changemakers – and take inspiration from their example.
Peace is not just made at conference tables, but in classrooms, neighbourhoods, and everywhere people meet with open minds and open hearts. Together, day by day, we can build a more just world, with compassion, equality and dignity for all.
