Hello! It’s me, Gramma Sue Blythe, and I invite you into a collaborative storytelling adventure, On the Road to 2030, 2050, and Beyond. When we get to the year 2050, I want to see a global celebration of Peace on and with the Earth. Young people of that day will have questions, and we each have a lifetime of stories to tell. My story will go something like this.
I remember way back in 2023 when Climate Generation hosted a webinar on “Climate Fiction for Any Classroom.” Teachers and curriculum developers from Grades K-12 and higher ed explored examples of climate fiction and talked in small groups about their personal situations, concerns, and successes. I invited them all to the year 2050 and the global celebration of the Earth’s temperature coming back down. We want to help young people of today to imagine what it will feel like when we look back on the global transformation since the beginning of the Earth Charter Century.
The Climate Generation Network shared stories that helped to make these closing words of the Earth Charter a reality:
Let ours be a time remembered for the awakening of a new reverence for life, the firm resolve to achieve sustainability, the quickening of the struggle for justice and peace, and the joyful celebration of life.
– The Earth Charter
We invited teachers to share their own stories of the classroom activities for a sustainable, just, and peaceful future. And together, we grew Climate Generation’s network and resources to help win the UN’s Global Goals by 2030.
And the rest is history, just waiting to be written. Here’s a 4-minute peek into our collaborative storytelling adventure, produced with the Star Center Theatre in Gainesville, Florida.
Let’s make our story a good one!
The Climate Collaboratory is a project of We, the World, the Interfaith Climate Group, and a growing network of individual and organizational partners.
