The Interfaith Climate Group supports a community-wide climate conversation-to-action program. The Climate Collaboratory is a pilot project of We, the World and the University of Florida Extension.

We host a monthly interfaith devotional and climate conversation to facilitate climate action for peace. We engage children, youth, adults and elders in a collaborative storytelling adventure. The outcome of the children’s story depends on the level of support from youth, adults and elders, outlined in the Facilitators Playbook. Young people play the EarthFlash! Games to make a world that works for 100% of humanity and the community of life on Earth, our home.

We offer tools and resources for a community-wide climate conversation-to-action program in 2021-22.

What can one person do?

  • Family Sustainability Checklist from Climate Change is Elementary empowers individuals to reduce their carbon footprint at home and work.
  • EcoChallenge – Ecochallengers select or create actions that align with their individual values and make a commitment to complete those actions, all the while practicing and reinforcing good habits. For every completed action, Ecochallengers earn points and create measurable impact.
  • Building Community in a Changing Climate – The Interfaith Climate Group and the community-wide climate conversation-to-action program, last Sunday of each month at 3:00 Eastern. See an archive of past meetings.

What can one congregation do?

  • GreenFaith Circles – The Interfaith Climate Group is a registered GreenFaith Circle, supporting strategic moral leadership for climate justice by people of diverse religions and spiritualities. Through base-building, leadership development, and campaigning, Circles make a transformative, high-impact difference as part of a wider climate and environmental movement.
  • Cool Congregations – This unique stewardship program helps congregations reduce the carbon footprint of their facilities and engages their members in reducing their carbon footprint at home. The program educates, inspires, and saves money too!

We recently shared stories on the livestream Welcome to WE! Show last month.  We will invite more people to share their own stories and learn ways to widen the climate conversation in their own circles of influence.  This workshop is co-hosted by Elders Climate Action / Florida Chapter on Tuesdays at 1:00 Eastern.
